Poll: What Is The Biggest Storyline For The Celtics This Season?

NBA: Preseason-Boston Celtics at Toronto RaptorsThe Boston Celtics open up the 2014-15 season Wednesday night against the Brooklyn Nets with plenty of intriguing storylines to follow, not all of which involve Rajon Rondo.

But Rondo’s future with the Celtics remains arguably the biggest question mark heading into the new campaign. While the point guard has stated on numerous occasions he would like to remain in Boston, many rumors have surfaced saying the Celtics will trade their star before his contract expires at the end of the season. However, Rondo won’t come cheap, as the Celtics are reportedly asking a “sky-high price” for his services, which could complicate matters.

Additionally, the impact rookie Marcus Smart is going to have on the team is something worth keeping an eye on. The Oklahoma State standout and Celtics’ first-round pick already has impressed with his defensive skills while his physicality and strength has the ability to wear down opposing teams. Although Smart is expected to struggle a bit offensively, Smart’s defense should make up for those shortcomings.

Meanwhile, the Celtics boast a number of young players who show promising potential, but the team isn’t expecting to hang banner No. 18 this season. Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge is careful with his use of the word “rebuilding,” but he believes the team is certainly moving in the right direction.

There’s plenty to look forward to this season, but what do you think is the biggest storyline for the Celts this season? Voice your opinion in the poll below.
