ray allenThe NBA regular season tipped off Tuesday, but Ray Allen still hasn’t decided whether or not he’ll play.

The former Boston Celtics guard wants to see how the season plays out first.

“I’ve just been home, taking my kids to school,” Allen told the Hartford Courant. “I’m working out, taking care of my body. I’m in great shape. I’ll just watch how the season progresses, and if I do feel the desire to continue to play, then I’ll decide what situation is viable for me.”

Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge recently said Allen might hold out on making a decision until the All-Star break.

Not a bad decision by Allen on many levels because he can join a team that’s in contention and rest his 39-year-old body for later in the season when games have more meaning.

The most likely destination for Allen is Cleveland, where he can reunite with LeBron James and pursue his third NBA title. Allen and James played together the previous two seasons in Miami.
