“Can you believe it?” Castiglione asked after Keith Foulke underhand flipped to Doug Mientkiewicz at approximately 11:40 p.m. on Oct. 27, 2004.

The Red Sox, long known for their playoff failures, ended an 86-year World Series drought, broke the vaunted Curse of the Bambino and sent Boston into a frenzy. The Red Sox’s victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2004 Fall Classic significantly changed life as we know it.

The Red Sox have enjoyed considerable success since their 2004 title. Boston won the World Series again in 2007 and 2013, cementing itself as one of Major League Baseball’s premier franchises. For some, nothing will ever come close to 2004, though, as the title run had it all.
