Jerod MayoJerod Mayo’s diagnosis hasn’t been revealed yet, but the New England Patriots linebacker’s knee injury reportedly is bad enough to end his season.

Mayo is out for the year with a “bad” lower right leg injury, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday. Mayo injured his knee on Sunday in the Patriots’ 37-22 win over the Buffalo Bills while tackling running back Anthony Dixon.

Mayo also was lost for the season in Week 6 last year when he tore his pectoral muscle against the New Orleans Saints.

The Patriots also lost running back Stevan Ridley for the season on Sunday. Ridley tore his ACL and MCL, according to multiple reports.

Without Mayo, Patriots linebackers Jamie Collins and Deontae Skinner will likely see more time in Thursday night’s game against the New York Jets.

The Patriots worked out five linebackers on Monday, but they aren’t expected to sign a player until after Thursday’s game because of the short week, according to multiple sources.
