Report: Jon Lester’s Newton Home Hits Market For $1.85 Million (Photos)

Jon Lester threw cold water on speculation about a potential return to Boston, even if it was done unintentionally.

Lester’s home in Newton, Mass., was put up for sale last weekend, according to the Boston Herald’s Scott Lauber. The Bernard Street pad is listed at $1.85 million.

Lester’s home hitting the market, as you’d imagine, has Red Sox fans wondering if the writing is on the wall. Many hoped Lester, who was traded to the Oakland Athletics before Major League Baseball’s non-waiver trade deadline, would return to Boston in free agency this offseason, but the odds of a reunion look slimmer now that the three-time All-Star is selling real estate in the area.

The listing for Lester’s Colonial home in Newton Highlands indicates that it features five bedrooms and four full bathrooms. The home is located along the Charles River and was built in 2001.

Lester, a second-round draft pick by the Red Sox in 2002, spent parts of nine major league seasons with Boston before the July 31 trade to Oakland. The 30-year-old pitcher helped guide the Red Sox to World Series titles in 2007 and 2013.

Obviously, Lester selling his home doesn’t guarantee anything. However, it’s worth noting as an interesting offseason begins.
