Reports: Stevan Ridley Suffers Season-Ending ACL, MCL Tears For Patriots

The New England Patriots running back tore his ACL and MCL in his right knee, according to multiple reports. Ridley injured his kneeĀ on Sunday in the Patriots’ 37-22 win over the Buffalo Bills. Ridley was hurt on a 2-yard loss when Bills cornerback Stephen Gilmore hit the fourth-year running back’s knee.

Ridley is in a contract year, and finishes the 2014 season with 94 carries for 340 yards, two touchdowns and no fumbles. Ridley carried the ball 10 times for 23 yards on Sunday.

The 5-foot-11, 220-pound running backĀ was drafted by the Patriots in the third round (No. 73 overall) of the 2011 NFL draft out of LSU. He has 649 career carries for 2,817 yards with 22 touchdowns.

With Ridley out, Patriots running backs Brandon Bolden, Shane Vereen and James White should see an uptick in playing time. The Patriots also could sign Jonas Gray off the practice squad.
