Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson smells what Derek Jeter’s cookin’.
The Rock returned to WWE “Raw” on Monday night at Barclays Center and stole the show. The most electrifying man in sports entertainment had the Brooklyn crowd buzzing, with one of his segment’s loudest moments being a shoutout to Jeter, who just retired after 20 incredible seasons with the New York Yankees.
The Rock returned to confront a wrestler named Rusev and his smoking sidekick Lana, both of whom have been involved in a lengthy storyline centered on the Russian duo’s hatred of America. While detailing his trip through New York’s boroughs en route to Barclays Center, The Rock informed the crowd he stopped by The Bronx to pay homage to the longtime Yankees captain, sparking a boisterous “De-rek Je-ter!” chant. A similar chant occurred earlier in the broadcast, but The Rock, as he typically does, brought things to a whole new level.
When all was said and done, The Rock received his own roll call of sorts, as fans chanted, “Rocky! Rocky! Rocky!” after The Brahma Bull laid the smackdown on Rusev.
