Twins’ Glen Perkins Tweets Royals Can Thank Him Later For Home-Field Advantage

The Kansas City Royals owe it all to Glen Perkins.

OK, maybe the Minnesota Twins closer didn’t have that much to do with Kansas City’s four-game sweep of the Baltimore Orioles in the American League Championship Series, but he’s technically the reason the Royals will have home-field advantage in the World Series when they take on either the St. Louis Cardinals or the San Francisco Giants.

Perkins earned the save in the 2014 All-Star Game at Target Field in July, securing the American League’s 5-3 win over the National League in front of his hometown crowd, and he kindly reminded the division-rival Royals of that fact just moments after they punched their ticket to the World Series with a clutch tweet.

Perkins should be receiving his thank you from the Kansas City ballclub once they finally put down the champagne and stop celebrating — so it might be a while.
