The former Boston Bruins defenseman was traded to the New York Islanders just days before the regular season began. The trusty, veteran defenseman was the casualty of the NHL’s strict salary cap, as the Bruins had to get under the cap before the news season.

The trade was still a bit of a surprise for B’s fans. The fact that the Islanders were the trading partner, however, isn’t too surprising. The two teams have made a handful of deals in the past.
