World SeriesThe 2014 World Series is worth watching, despite what you’ve been told.

While a San Francisco Giants-Kansas City Royals showdown doesn’t carry the same appeal as some previous Fall Classics, there are several reasons why you should care about the final series of the Major League Baseball season.

The Giants and Royals each traveled a unique road, starting with the MLB wild card games. The Giants dispatched the Pittsburgh Pirates in the National League wild card game, while the Royals defeated the Oakland Athletics in a thrilling, extra-inning American League wild card game.

San Francisco has since defeated the Washington Nationals and St. Louis Cardinals in the NLDS and NLCS, respectively. Kansas City took down the Los Angeles Angels and Baltimore Orioles — both via sweeps — to punch its ticket to the World Series.

On the surface, a Giants-Royals matchup is ho-hum because neither team reached 90 wins during the regular season. But when one dives a little deeper, there are several intriguing storylines. Contrary to popular belief, this World Series should be embraced by all.
