It’s hard to lose in a more disappointing fashion than No. 3 Auburn did against Texas A&M on Saturday.

The Tigers cut an 18-point halftime deficit to just three points in the fourth quarter, but a pair of fumbles led to an Aggies upset.

The first turnover came near the 3-minute mark when quarterback Nick Marshall and running back Cameron Artis-Payne got tangled up in the backfield.

Auburn got another opportunity to complete the comeback, but the Tigers turned the ball over again with just 54 seconds remaining when center Reese Dismukes snapped the ball while Marshall was still calling the play.

Auburn’s late gaffes likely will prove costly for the team’s playoff hopes, as the 41-38 loss is its second defeat of the season.
