Bill Simmons Fires Back At ESPN’s Mike Golic With Angry Twitter Rant

Bill Simmons isn’t happy.

Simmons flew off the handle Thursday via Twitter after learning of some critical comments made by ESPN “Mike & Mike” co-host Mike Golic. Simmons called Golic’s actions “absolute garbage” amid his social media rant.

The beef stems from Simmons’ appearance on ESPN Radio’s “The Herd” on Wednesday. While discussing LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers’ early season struggles, Simmons said the situation reminded him a bit of Albert Pujols faltering in his first season with the Los Angeles Angels.

Golic took exception to Simmons’ opinion and offered a strong rebuttal Thursday morning — hours after the Cavs suffered a last-second loss to the Utah Jazz to drop their record to 1-3.

“I think it’s one of the most ridiculous statements I’ve heard four games into a season in my life in any sport,” Golic said. “That’s what I’ll say about Bill Simmons. So, you know, he grabbed a headline, which is something I know he loves — and that’s one of the most ridiculous lines I’ve ever heard in any sport in my life. Four games into a season. I don’t even … that’s ridiculous.”

In Simmons’ defense, he prefaced his comments about LeBron and the Cavs by acknowledging that it’s still very early in the NBA season. Nevertheless, it has created quite the awkward rift in Bristol.

This is Simmons’ second major blow-up in a matter of weeks. He previously was suspended by ESPN for comments made about NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
