Louisville’s defense proved the difference-maker against Boston College on Saturday.
Safety Gerod Holliman intercepted three passes that led to three key scores for the Cardinals in a 38-19 win in Chestnut Hill.
Eagles quarterback Tyler Murphy struggled mightily, throwing four picks in the game and completing just seven of 15 passes for 149 yards. He was eventually replaced by backup Darius Wade.
BC running back Jon Hilliman was the offense’s lone bright spot, rushing 17 times for 42 yards and two touchdowns on the night.
Louisville’s offensive attack was led by wide receiver DeVante Parker. The 21-year-old had eight receptions for 144 yards, giving him three straight 100-yard games since returning from a foot injury.
The first of Holliman’s three picks set up a field goal in the first quarter, but his key interception came in the fourth quarter, when he returned the ball 38 yards to the house increase the Louisville lead to 12 points.
Boston College falls to 6-4 on the season, while the Cardinals improve to 7-3. The Eagles will get next weekend off before taking on No. 2 Florida State at Doak Campbell Stadium on Nov. 22.
