Editor’s Note: This short feature will be posted after every Boston Bruins game. It will highlight the three best players from that day’s matchup (both teams included).Â
The Bruins didn’t play a strong 60-minute game Tuesday night against the Florida Panthers at TD Garden, but they found a way to earn two points and secure their first three-game win streak of the season.
Boston’s second line of Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron and Reilly Smith shined the brightest, combining for two goals, one assist and 12 shots on goal.
Here are the three stars:
No. 3 Star: Jussi Jokinen, Center, Florida Panthers
The veteran forward scored the first goal of the game — his first of the season and the 150th of his career — and tallied two shots in 15-28 of ice time. Jokinen also won 57 percent of his faceoffs and finished with a plus-3 even-strength Corsi.
No. 2 Star: Patrice Bergeron, Center, Boston Bruins
Bergeron tied the score 1-1 in the second period with his second goal of the season — Â his first in the last 12 games. The second-line center also tallied a team-high six shots, won 53 percent of his faceoffs and had an even-strength Corsi of plus-10 in 16:49 of ice time.
No. 1 Star: Brad Marchand, Left Winger, Boston Bruins
Marchand scored the game-winning goal at 3:27 of the overtime period to clinch the victory for Boston. He also did a nice job on the forecheck just prior to picking up the primary assist on Bergeron’s game-tying goal in the second period. Marchand finished with two points, five shots, a plus-2 rating and three takeaways in 19:10 of ice time.
Marchand’s even strength Corsi of plus-15 led the Bruins.
