marcus smartMarcus Smart and the Boston Celtics dodged a bullet in a big way.

It was easy to fear the worst after seeing Smart roll up his left ankle and being carted off Friday night against the Indiana Pacers. However, the Celtics announced Saturday afternoon that an MRI revealed Smart suffered a sprained ankle and a bone bruise. He’s expected to miss 2 to 3 weeks.

The C’s also announced point guard Rajon Rondo underwent successful surgery to remove screws from his surgically repaired left hand. Rondo will miss Saturday night’s game against the Chicago Bulls, but he’s expected to be in the lineup Wednesday night against the Okalahoma City Thunder.
