Derrick Rose caused a stir with some comments this week, and Charles Barkley is not about to let him off the hook.
The Chicago Bulls superstar irked some people when he recently said part of the reason he sits out games is to make sure he’s healthy after basketball.
“I’m thinking about after I?m done with basketball,” Rose said. “Having graduations to go to, having meetings to go to. I don?t want to be in my meetings all sore or be at my son’s graduation all sore just because of something I did in the past.”
Rose had a chance to clear up those comments in an interview with TNT’s Rachel Nichols, but instead stood by the comments and claimed they were “taken out of content.”
Unsurprisingly, the outspoken Barkley ripped into Rose on Thursday night’s “Inside the NBA.” The Hall of Famer called Rose’s comments “stupid” and went into a rant about what the Chicago point guard said.
“There are pros and cons to what we do for a living,” Barkley said. “Derrick Rose is making $20 million a year and he’s got a couple of bad knees. That’s disrespectful to maids, people who in the army — who go out and kill people and get killed, got no arms and no legs — and listen, as much as I love Derrick Rose, that was flat-out stupid.”
Coincidentally, Rose suffered a “minor” hamstring injury in the Bulls’ win over the Toronto Raptors on Thursday night.
