Daniel Sturridge Liverpool DortmundDaniel Sturridge is on the road to recovery and he can’t return to action soon enough for Liverpool.

Sturridge practiced with his Liverpool teammates Wednesday for the first time since suffering calf and thigh injuries, which have sidelined him since early September. If all goes well, Sturridge could feature in Liverpool’s next game — a Premier League encounter on Nov. 23 at Crystal Palace. After Wednesday’s session, Sturridge tweeted his delight at joining his teammates.

Sturridge last appeared in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Tottenham on Aug. 31. He has missed the Reds’ last 14 games (in all competitions), watching in agony as they have struggled to score goals and earn points in the standings.

Sturridge was the second-highest goal scorer in the Premier League last season with 21. The speedy striker has scored one goal in three games in 2014-15.

Sturridge suffered a thigh injury on Sept. 5 while on international duty with England. Sturridge looked set to return after six weeks out but he suffered a calf injury during warm-ups before his first practice session on Oct. 16.

Liverpool strikers Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini have failed to score a league goal in Sturridge’s absence. Manager Brendan Rodgers, Sturridge’s teammates and Liverpool fans are more than ready to welcome the Reds’ leading goal threat back into the fold.
