The Crusaders jumped out to an early lead, scoring the first eight points of the game while the Crimson struggled to get in a groove offensively. But it was the 24 turnovers Harvard committed that ultimately doomed them.

Harvard’s Wesley Saunders, who tallied 24 points to go along with 12 rebounds on the night, missed a jumper in the lane in the final seconds that would have given his team the win.

Justin Burrell led the way for Holy Cross, scoring 16 points including two free throws that gave the Crusaders a 56-55 lead with two minutes remaining.

The win marked Holy Cross’ first victory against a ranked opponent since 1977. Harvard was ranked in The Associated Press preseason Top 25 for the first time in school history.
