Jonas Gray Earns AFC Offensive Player Of The Week For Four-TD Performance

FOXBORO, Mass. — Jonas Gray went from the New England Patriots’ practice squad to AFC Offensive Player of the Week in just one month.

The Patriots running back took home the weekly award after his 201-yard, four-touchdown performance Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts. Gray ran the ball 37 times and didn’t have a single negative carry.

Gray helped the Patriots beat the Colts 42-20 at Lucas Oil Stadium in just his fourth career game. Gray also will be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated this week.

The Patriots waived Gray on Aug. 30 during final roster cuts, which means 31 other teams could have picked him up after an impressive preseason, in which he had 37 carries for 142 yards. Gray slipped to New England’s practice squad and was signed to the active roster Oct. 16 after starting running back Stevan Ridley was placed on injured reserve.
