Some moments are bigger than the rivalry.

During the fourth quarter of Saturday’s Ohio State-Michigan game in Columbus, Buckeyes starting quarterback and Heisman Trophy candidate J.T. Barrett was carted off the field with what appeared to be a significant right leg injury. The redshirt freshman had his leg bend underneath him while being tackled.

As training staff rushed out to tend to Barrett, Michigan quarterback Devin Gardner jogged over to his injured opponent, knelt down beside him and said a few words to him before he was carted off the field with an air cast wrapped around his leg.

It was a classy move by Gardner, as these two teams combine to form one of the most heated rivalries in college football.

Backup Cardale Jones came on to replace the injured Barrett. Ohio State went on to defeat Michigan 42-28.
