As if a 7-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on home ice wasn’t painful enough for the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night, the team had to walk past a group of unhappy fans while coming off the ice.

Booing isn’t necessarily uncommon in the NHL, but Oilers fans took it a step further than most following the team’s sixth straight loss. After the game at Rexall Place, fans lined up outside the Oilers’ locker room and stood roughly ten feet from the players to boo them as they made their way off the ice.

The video is painful to watch, and it’s hard to imagine how those players could walk by without reacting.

The loss dropped the Oilers to 6-13-2 on the season, good for last place in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference. They have missed the postseason eight seasons in a row and are on track to miss it once again.

Edmonton’s players undoubtedly are frustrated too — but at least they’re not booing their fans’ faces.
