The New England Patriots certainly are showing they’re the team to beat, but they can’t overlook their Week 12 opponent, the Detroit Lions.
The Patriots, currently riding a six-game win streak, welcome the NFC North-leading Lions to Gillette Stadium on Sunday, but what will be New England’s biggest key to success against Detroit?
On the defensive side of things, New England will have its hands full containing one of the NFL’s top receiving duos, Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate. At 6-foot-5 and 236 pounds, Megatron’s size and catching radius make him a huge threat, while Tate leads the NFC with 68 catches and ranks second with 950 yards.
On the offensive side, Tom Brady is averaging 310 passing yards per game during the Patriots’ win streak, but will another huge passing game from TB12 be needed for a W? Or will Jonas Gray, the running back who exploded for 201 yards and four touchdowns against the Indianapolis Colts last week, come through with another monster performance?
We can’t forget about Rob Gronkowski, either. The tight end finished with four catches for 71 yards, an unreal catch-and-run touchdown and the biggest block possibly ever against the Colts, but will he need a 100-plus yard game to secure a victory for New England?
