The Washington Redskins’ decision to start Robert Griffin III this week might seem like a curious one.
The 2012 first-round draft pick has undeniable potential, but he’s coming off yet another injury. When he’s been healthy this season, he’s been awful. Also, the ‘Skins have won two in a row with Colt McCoy under center. However, all signs point to Griffin starting against the Minnesota Vikings.
That’s a decision driven by owner Daniel Snyder and general manager Bruce Allen, according to ESPN.com. However, at least one member of the Redskins disputed the report, with executive Tony Wyllie telling ESPN the decision to start Griffin was head coach Jay Gruden’s call.
Also according to ESPN, Griffin doesn’t have a ton of support in the Washington locker room. That would seem to back up an August story from Bleacher Report, which stated Griffin was starting to “alienate” some of his teammates.
It’s all part of another dramatic week for the 3-5 Redskins. Adding to the circus was the fact that one of the team buses was involved in an accident on its way to the stadium.
