Robert Griffin III used words to combat the heaps of recent criticism he’s faced.

Griffin has been in the spotlight recently for the wrong reasons, as he’s been largely ineffective since returning to the Washington Redskins lineup. During his weekly news conference Wednesday, the quarterback turned to New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick — sort of.

It wasn’t quite “We’re on to Cincinnati,” but Griffin continuously answered questions with “We’re focused on San Francisco” or some variation of that response as he ducked just about every single question he was asked.

He was asked about improving his footwork.

“Yeah, man, you know, like I said, just focused on San Francisco now.”

How about the controversial comments from Steve Young about RG3’s work ethic?

“Focusing on San Francisco, not letting anything on the outside distract us from that. We’ve gotta take care of what we’ve gotta take care of.”

Griffin did change it up when asked if he was doing anything in his preparation for this week.

“Just preparing for San Francisco. That’s all I can do.”
