Seven Ex-Chivas Players Taken In Dispersal Draft; Revs Pass On Pick

NEW YORK — FC Dallas selected goalkeeper Dan Kennedy with the top pick in Major League Soccer’s dispersal draft of players who were on Chivas USA, which folded last month.

Seven players were drafted Wednesday. New York City FC, which joins the league along with Orlando City next season, took midfielder Matthew Dunn with the second pick.

Sporting Kansas City passed, D.C. United took midfielder Thomas McNamara and the New England Revolution passed.

Montreal drafted defender Donny Toia with the sixth pick, Orlando passed, Colorado selected forward Caleb Calvert and San Jose went for forward Kristopher Tyrpak. The only other player drafted was midfielder Marco Delgado, chosen by Toronto with the 14th pick.

Teams drafting players acquire their full 2015 budget charges and must exercise options, including associated transfers or loans. Bypassed players will be in the re-entry draft or the waiver draft on Dec. 10.
