Peter KingPeter King’s timing was as bad as it could get Monday night.

The Sports Illustrated NFL writer, who also runs TheMMQB.com, apparently thought he sent out an innocent tweet about the New York Jets. So, he might have been surprised to see his mentions flooded with people questioning his taste, timing and tact.

Here’s the tweet that had Twitter users up in arms.

On any other night, that tweet wouldn’t have been a big deal. However, King’s tweet came during a news conference revealing that a St. Louis County grand jury decided not to press charges against Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson, who shot unarmed teenager Mike Brown to death in August.

So, you could see how using the word “indictment” at that time might not go over very well.

King quickly apologized for the original tweet and claimed there was no connection between his tweet and the highly publicized current event happening at the same exact time he sent it out.
