The St. Louis Blues entered Tuesday night having scored 14 goals in their last three games, but it was the Boston Bruins who got on the board first at TD Garden.
Just over five minutes into the first period, Patrice Bergeron gave Boston a one-score lead by netting his fifth goal of the season.
The alternate captain’s goal was the result of a bit of luck, as Blues defenseman Ian Cole served the puck directly to Bergeron in front of the net with goaltender Brian Elliot out of position.
As NESN’s Andy Brickley explains, though, the Bruins set up the opportunity with some strong passing on a successful breakout from the team’s defensive zone.
