The Boston Bruins announced Saturday they’ve sent defenseman Joe Morrow back to Providence of the American Hockey League.

The good news for Morrow is that he’ll get playing time down in Providence. He hasn’t been in the Bruins’ lineup since Dec. 6 against Arizona. Since then, he’s been scratched in the club’s last six games.

Morrow had been playing well at the time the Bruins started to scratch him. He was a combined plus-4 with one goal in four games played before being sent to the press box.

The 22-year-old has appeared in 15 games this season, averaging 16:41 of ice time per game. Morrow had the one goal and was a plus-three with four penalty minutes in those 15 games.

The former first-round pick scored six goals and added 23 assists in 56 games last season with the P-Bruins.
