6:00 pm: BOSTON — The Boston Bruins enter Monday night’s game against the Detroit Red Wings at TD Garden aiming to get back in the win column following a 6-2 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night.
It was a disappointing performance from the Bruins, who had played two good games before that and appeared to be headed in the right direction going into the holiday break.
When asked what specific area of his team could be improved, Bruins head coach Claude Julien pointed to commitment.
“Commitment. That’s the area, I think, commitment. You know obviously there’s a couple things. We need to be a little bit harder and more committed,” Julien said. “Do the things that we have to do to win hockey games. It’s not so much one area where we’re weak, it’s just our game as a whole needs a little bit more. We need to be hungrier and a little bit harder.”
Veteran forwards Patrice Bergeron and Milan Lucic won’t play versus Detroit because of undisclosed injuries. Providence Bruins winger Matt Lindblad was recalled Monday and will play in his fourth career NHL game (second this season).
