Bruins-Sharks 3 Stars: Joe Pavelski Among Three San Jose Forwards With 2 Goals

The San Jose Sharks extended their home win streak to three games with a 7-4 rout of the Boston Bruins on Thursday night.

San Jose is one of the most talented offensive teams in the league despite entering the game ranked 16th in goals scored per game, and it showed in this game. Three Sharks forwards scored two goals and 10 San Jose players picked up at least one assist.

Boston’s seven goals against are a season-high.

Here are the “3 Stars” from Bruins-Sharks.

No. 3 Star: Reilly Smith, Right Wing, Bruins

Smith ended a 10-game goalless drought with a goal just 29 seconds into the game. He crashed the net and capitalized on a pass from Patrice Bergeron.

He scored his second goal at 8:13 of the second period by showing great patience with the puck and beating Sharks goaltender Antti Niemi with a wrist shot. Smith led the Bruins with four shots on goal in 14:52 of ice time.

No. 2 Star: Tommy Wingels, Center, Sharks

Wingels scored San Jose’s first goal 27 seconds into the second period and tied the score 2-2 with a power-play tally at 7:30 of the frame. Both goals were deflections from the slot. Wingels had a team-high five hits, four shots and a plus-10 Corsi at even strength in 16:16 of ice time.

No. 1 Star: Joe Pavelski, Center, Sharks

Pavelski was one of three Sharks forwards with two goals scored. His first goal came at 14:21 of the second period and tied the game 4-4. His second tally at 11:13 of the final period gave San Jose an insurance goal with a 6-4 lead.

Pavelski finished with a team-high nine shots on goal, two hits, a plus-1 rating, a 78 faceoff percentage and a plus-14 Corsi at even strength in 18:53 of ice time.
