WALTHAM, Mass. — Brad Stevens isn’t fretting about things he can’t control.

Even as trade rumors swirled Thursday regarding Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo, Stevens said his preparation for Friday’s matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves has not changed.

“It’s part of the NBA, but again, I don’t want to focus on things that aren’t there,” Stevens said before Thursday’s practice when asked about how he handles the yearly onslaught of trade speculation. “So at the end of the day, my focus is on today. We have a film session, followed by a practice, followed by a visit to a local hospital, and we have to have a great day as a group, and we have to have a great day as a team. It needs to be a productive day to move forward. My focus can’t be on anything else other than that.”

The Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings and New York Knicks all have been named as potential suitors for Rondo, with the Mavs appearing to be the front-runners as of Thursday afternoon.
