Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith are used to debating things on national TV, but those topics are usually centered around basketball.

In recent days, though, the conversation has shifted to Ferguson, police behavior and general race relations in America. Barkley had strong takes in a CNN interview, going as far to call Ferguson looters and rioters as “scumbags.”

Smith responded Wednesday by penning an open letter to Barkley.

As they so often have in the past, the two shared a set Thursday night on TNT’s “Inside the NBA” pregame show. This time, they used an entire segment to further discuss their differences in opinion when it comes to these volatile social issues.

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith also weighed in on the topic.
