Club World Cup Final Live: Real Madrid Tops San Lorenzo On Sergio Ramos, Gareth Bale Goals

Final, 2-0 Real Madrid: It’s all over at Le Grand Stade de Marrakech. Real Madrid wins the game over San Lorenzo and claims its first-ever Club World Cup title.

It was one-way traffic in the 2014 FIFA Club World Cup final, as Real Madrid overpowered San Lorenzo in Morocco. Ramos and Bale scored in each half for the European champions, who were far superior to their South American counterparts from start to finish.

San Lorenzo tried to frustrate Real Madrid into making mistakes, but it didn’t work. Real Madrid kept its cool, stayed patient and scored enough goals to earn a comfortable victory. Real Madrid will take its fourth trophy of 2014 back to Spain, and its 22-game winning streak remains intact.

Real Madrid proved it can endure pain (and dole some out) and emerge a stronger force in the first half against San Lorenzo. The European champions dominated possession and territory, dealt with San Lorenzo’s negative tactics and ultimately took a deserved lead through Ramos.

We can’t fault San Lorenzo for their approach. Real Madrid has more quality at every position, and the Argentines decided to defend deep, stay compact and rough up the stars from Spain. It worked until Ramos’ towering header put Real Madrid in front.

Now San Lorenzo will have to do some attacking in the second half — it didn’t register a shot on goal in the first — and open up space at the back for Real Madrid to exploit.
