It appears Joe Philbin won’t get the boot after all.

The Miami Dolphins coach’s job was in jeopardy after his team just missed a wild-card playoff spot for the second consecutive season. However, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross told reporters Sunday after a thrilling 37-35 win over the Minnesota Vikings that Philbin will be back for another season.

Philbin has been Miami’s coach since 2012 and owns a 23-24 overall record.

The Dolphins were in the playoff hunt until last Sunday, when they were eliminated from contention after the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Kansas City Chiefs. Miami was in a similar situation last season but dropped its final two games en route to a disappointing 8-8 finish.
