One young hockey player will never forget his first time on the ice with the big boys — no matter how hard he might try.

As is customary with many junior hockey teams, the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League invited a kid to come out and join them during warmups. The skating was going swimmingly at the start, with the youngster likely having the time of his life doing some laps with the team, but that all came to a screeching halt when he ran into the massive man that is Hunter Smith.

Smith, a 6-foot-6, 210-pound forward who the Calgary Flames drafted in June, accidentally clotheslined the poor kid, who went down in a hurry. Smith’s nickname also happens to be “Big Rig,” which means he’s probably the last guy on the ice you want to collide with.

Regardless, the kid appeared to be OK, as he popped right back up and resumed skating while the Oshawa fans gave him a nice ovation.

Skip ahead to about the 35-second mark to see the big hit.
