UPDATE (3:14 p.m.): The NHL fined the Los Angeles Kings $100,000 for violating the terms of defenseman Slava Voynov’s suspension
“Voynov skated with teammates today during a Club practice,” the league said in a statement Tuesday. “Such activity is in direct contravention of the terms of the suspension levied Oct. 20, which permit Mr. Voynov to use club facilities and work with team personnel but prohibit his participation in any team-related functions or activities.”

Los Angeles Kings defenseman Slava Voynov joined his teammates for an optional skate Tuesday morning, which was quite a surprise, given recent events.
Voynov was suspended indefinitely by the NHLÂ after being arrested in October. He was charged with felony domestic violence on Nov. 20 and plead not guilty Monday.

Even though the skate was optional, Rich Hammond of the Orange County Register reported every Kings player was in attendance.
Voynov has tallied two assists in six games for Los Angeles this season. His last appearance was Oct. 19 against the Minnesota Wild, and the Kings were granted salary cap relief for his contract on Nov. 21.
The Boston Bruins are in Los Angeles for a Tuesday night matchup with the Kings. The B’s lost 3-2 to the Anaheim Ducks on Monday night to start a four-game road trip.
