Manti Te’o Is Tired Of Hearing Fake Girlfriend Jabs: ‘Get A New Joke’

Manti Te’o hasn’t even finished his second year in the league, but he’s already grown tired of one aspect of NFL life.

The San Diego Chargers linebacker was thrust into the limelight before the 2013 NFL draft thanks to a bizarre story involving Te’o getting “catfished” by a fake girlfriend.

Plenty of jokes followed, and apparently they still haven’t stopped. After the Chargers’ win over the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday, 49ers lineman Anthony Davis tweeted that he took a shot at Te’o’s imaginary girlfriend and didn’t exactly get a kind response.

On Monday, Te’o finally put his foot down.

“I got harassed a few times last year (on the field). I expected that,” Te’o said, via U-T San Diego’s Michael Gehlken. “But this year?” Te’o said Monday. “I told (Davis), ‘Find a new joke.'”

Te’o’s request seems reasonable. If you’re going to insult the man, at least be more creative.
