Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is known for many things, but being soft-spoken isn’t one of them.
Cuban’s history of criticizing NBA referees is well-documented and has resulted in over $1 million in fines, and his antics again led to a technical foul Wednesday when Dallas took on the Milwaukee Bucks.
Though the technical was given to Mavericks assistant coach Monte Mathis, Cuban clarified it was his fault.
“They had to give it to Monte because they’re not allowed to give it to me,” Cuban told reporters. “So then (referee Nick Buchert) went up and apologized to Monte afterward.
“All I said was, ‘You’ve got to make that call,'” Cuban said. “No cursing. Didn’t curse the whole game. Quiet, relatively speaking, the whole game.”
Fortunately for Cuban and the Mavericks, the foul didn’t prove to be too costly. Dallas went on to beat the Bucks 107-105 thanks to a 3-point buzzer-beater by Monta Ellis.
