New England Patriots fans are hoping a week in the sun is enough to get Chandler Jones back on the field against the San Diego Chargers.

The defensive end was listed as a limited participant on the team’s injury report for Wednesday’s practice at the University of San Diego. Jones practiced in a limited capacity last week but sat out his fifth consecutive game when the Patriots played the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

Wide receivers Julian Edelman (thigh) and Brandon LaFell (shoulder), running back Shane Vereen (ankle), offensive linemen Cameron Fleming (ankle) and Dan Connolly (ankle), linebacker Dont’a Hightower (shoulder), defensive end Dominique Easley (knee), cornerback Kyle Arrington (ankle) and long snapper Danny Aiken (concussion) also were limited.

Aiken, who missed Sunday’s game with a concussion likely suffered on a hit to the head from Detroit Lions defensive lineman C.J. Mosley in Week 12, wore a red non-contact jersey at Wednesday’s practice, according to multiple reports.

Wide receiver Aaron Dobson did not participate in practice due to a hamstring injury, while linebacker Chris White sat out with an ankle injury.

Quarterback Tom Brady (ankle) and offensive lineman Marcus Cannon (hip) were full participants.
