FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots filled out their 53-man roster and practice squad Wednesday.

The Patriots signed tight end Steve Maneri to their active roster. The move likely coincides with moving defensive tackle Dominique Easley to injured reserve, as NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday.

The Patriots also signed quarterback Garrett Gilbert to the practice squad. The Patriots had an open spot on their scout team when defensive tackle Casey Walker was signed by the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday.

This is Maneri’s third stint with the Patriots. He spent parts of the 2010 season on the Patriots’ 53-man roster and practice squad. He also was with the Patriots this summer during training camp.

Maneri has played offensive tackle and tight end in the NFL. Wearing No. 86, it appears the Patriots view him as a tight end, though he’s likely to play a sixth offensive lineman/extra tight end hybrid blocking role. Maneri also has spent time with the Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers since going undrafted out of Temple in 2010.

Gilbert was selected in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL draft by the St. Louis Rams. He was cut after training camp and added to the team’s practice squad before being released Oct. 30.
