Phillippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling helped rescue Liverpool on Friday with a moment of pure genius and a little bit of composure.

Sterling scored the only goal in Liverpool’s win over Burnley after Coutinho set him up with a fine no-look pass. Liverpool struggled mightily against the newly promoted Clarets, but the Coutinho-Sterling combination gave the visiting Reds the edge they were looking for at the right time.

The game-winning sequence began in the 62nd minute when Lucas headed the ball forward to Coutinho, who controlled it, spotted Sterling’s run with his extra set of eyes (not really) and flicked a no-look pass over his shoulder directly into the streaking forward’s path.

Sterling then did well to dribble around Tom Heaton and confidently finish.

Sterling discussed the goal — his sixth of the season — after the game, crediting Coutinho’s magic and his own foresight for the strike.

Liverpool didn’t create much else against Burnley. This was the only move the Reds finished. It happened to be enough.
