Get this: The Chicago Bears reportedly don’t like how their investment in Jay Cutler is panning out. Shocking, right?

The Bears and their quarterback are in the midst of a dreadful season despite high expectations entering the year. Now, it sounds like the Bears are getting a little nervous after making a long-term commitment to their supposed franchise quarterback.

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported Sunday morning that the Bears have some “buyer’s remorse” over Cutler, and those within the organization are unsure as to whether Cutler is the man for the job.

Cutler has devolved into one of the NFL’s most mistake-prone QBs. The Vanderbilt product leads the league with 15 interceptions and has a staggering six lost fumbles this season. His disastrous play is a big reason the Bears sit at 5-8 and in last place in the NFC North.

Cutler’s play has gotten so bad this season, Rapoport tweeted Sunday, that the Bears considered benching Cutler against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Chicago actually went on to win that game, but that was thanks in large part to Tampa turnovers that gave the Bears great field position.

Cutler signed a new seven-year contract extension with the Bears in January of 2014 reportedly worth $126 million total. ProFootballTalk reported shortly after the signing that the first three years are guaranteed for $54 million.
