Report: Rex Grossman Turns Down Browns To Go Kitesurfing With Family

Rex Grossman apparently doesn’t feel like working during the holidays.

The free-agent quarterback was cut by the Cleveland Browns during training camp and hasn’t signed with another NFL team since. But with Johnny Manziel sidelined by a hamstring injury and Brian Hoyer nursing a bad shoulder, the Browns desperately need a quarterback, so they decided to give Rex another call.

Unfortunately for them, it appears Grossman is a busy man this time of year, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Yup, that’s right. Grossman turned down the chance to sign with an NFL team because his family is in town for the holidays. As Chris Russell of ESPN Radio 980 points out, though, this isn’t just any vacation for the Grossman clan.

To be honest, we can’t fault Grossman for his decision. Would you rather sign with the Browns to play a meaningless NFL game on the road against the Baltimore Ravens, or go kitesurfing on the beach in Florida?

Of course, Grossman would have been paid a hefty sum for his services. But if the job requires being a quarterback on the Browns, sometimes it’s better to just say no. And go kitesurfing.
