The New York Yankees have been quiet this offseason, but that could be about to change.

ESPN’s Buster Olney reported Monday morning that the Yankees are showing interest in free-agent reliever Andrew Miller. According to Olney, the Yankees are in “serious pursuit” of the veteran left-hander.

Miller is believed to be the best reliever on the market this winter, and Olney says there’s a chance Miller could get a four-year contract. He’s coming of a career year in stints with both the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles.

The southpaw made 73 appearances in 2014, posting a 2.02 ERA in 62 1/3 innings of work. The 29-year-old held opposing batters to just a .153 average and struck out a career-best 15.3 batters per nine innings. His 8.5 strikeout-to-walk ratio also was the best of his nine-year career.

Miller started the season with the Red Sox before being traded to the Orioles for prospect Eduardo Rodriguez at the trade deadline. He pitched in five playoff games with the Orioles, allowing just one hit in 7 1/3 innings of work.

David Robertson, who served as the Yankees’ closer in 2014, is a free agent this winter.
