New England Patriots fans woke up in a state of panic Tuesday morning. The cause: The curse of Justin Bieber had been bequeathed upon their favorite NFL team.

Tight end Rob Gronkowski, linebackers Akeem Ayers and Darius Fleming and running backs Jonas Gray and Shane Vereen hung out with the pop singer Monday night after attending a Los Angeles Clippers game. Gronk wasn’t too worried that Bieber’s stink would rub off on the Patriots, however.

“We’re just on to San Diego,” Gronkowski told the media Thursday. “We’re just worried about the Chargers, man.”

The Patriots are practicing in San Diego this week as they prepare for Sunday night’s game against the Chargers. Gronkowski made his presence known Wednesday by taping a new number on the back of his jersey. Gronk was all business Thursday, however, as he went numberless with the rest of his teammates.
