College football’s new four-team playoff system was supposed to eliminate the controversy surrounding who deserved to be the best team in the nation. Try telling that to TCU and Baylor.
The Big 12 Conference co-champions felt the wrath of the selection committee Sunday, as both found themselves outside the Top Four in the committee’s final rankings. The Bears finished at No. 5, while the Horned Frogs dropped three spots from the previous week to No. 6.
As you might imagine, players from both teams weren’t too happy with that, and they weren’t afraid to let the world know.

Both teams will play in major postseason games — TCU will face No. 9 Ole Miss in the Dec. 31 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, and Baylor will take on No. 8 Michigan State in the Jan. 1 Cotton Bowl — but judging by these reactions, that seems like a small consolation prize.
