Tom Brady: LeBron James Could Play ‘Forever’ If He Trained Like Me

People wouldn’t exactly call Tom Brady the most athletic quarterback in the NFL, despite his excellence on the field over the last decade and a half.

But with the help of his trainer, Alex Guerrero, the New England Patriots star has been able to extend his career through hard training regimens that have made him faster and a diet that has made him leaner.

A Sports Illustrated feature highlighting Brady’s training methods revealed just how much the 37-year-old works during the season to stay fit. Guerrero, who has been with Brady for a decade, micromanages the quarterback’s food, training, workouts, practice and rest. His help, along with Brady’s hard work, has lengthened the quarterback’s career to the point where playing into his 40s isn’t out of the question, even after his devastating ACL injury in 2008.

“God, what if LeBron James trained how I trained?” Brady asked in the piece. “He really could play forever.”

Of course, James is considered one of the most physically gifted athletes in sports, and he probably has his own strict workout regimen, which has helped him get where he is today. But Brady feels confident in his routine, and Patriots fans hope he sticks to it so they can squeeze every ounce of juice out of him before he retires.
