Tom Brady: Patriots ‘Let It Slip Away’ In Loss To Packers, Must Rebound

Tom Brady still feels the sting of the New England Patriots’ 26-21 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

The Patriots quarterback felt confident leading up to Sunday’s highly anticipated matchup, with that confidence extending all the way into the final moments of the fourth quarter at Lambeau Field. But facing a five-point deficit, the Patriots failed to score after having the ball on the Packers’ 20-yard line with under four minutes to play.

“I just felt like we were going to win that game,” Brady said on WEEI’s “Dennis & Callahan Morning Show” on Tuesday. “We went into the game realizing how important of a game it was and what we needed to do to rise to the occasion. I don’t think you could have asked for anything more — having a chance to go ahead with three and a half minutes to go in the game. If someone said you have a chance at the 20-yard line with three and a half minutes, you like your chances. I think everyone in our locker room would have loved them. We just couldn’t get it done.”

Although Brady still believes his team should have won, he isn’t dwelling on the game that snapped the Patriots’ seven-game winning streak. Instead, Brady is looking ahead to the upcoming game against the San Diego Chargers.

“That is the business that we are in, so we are here to win games,” Brady said. “I said after the game I thought we had a great opportunity to do it — going on the road against really a great football team, in their stadium, you can’t ask for a better opportunity than that. I thought we let it slip away, but we still got a lot of football left and hopefully we can rebound this week with San Diego. We’re out here already and it’s pretty early this morning, but we have to get a jump on the Chargers.”
