The Buffalo Sabres are an oddity in today’s NHL in that they don’t have a captain.
Of course, that hasn’t always been the case. With frequent roster turnover in recent years, the Sabres have had 12 different captains since the 2001-02 season. One of those players played for the Bruins at one point in his career and is the last Bruins player to wear No. 81.
