Adam McQuaid says he’s just about ready to return to game action. Now he waits.
The Boston Bruins defenseman declared himself good to go after practice Friday when he met with the media for the first time since breaking his thumb during a Nov. 18 game against the St. Louis Blues.

Despite McQuaid clearing himself, he still has to wait for the green light from the Bruins’ medical personnel and coaching staff. B’s coach Claude Julien wasn’t tipping his hand, telling reporters the club would “know more later” when asked about McQuaid’s availability for two games this weekend.
McQuaid was playing a lot before he suffered the injury, averaging more than 19 minutes of ice time per game — almost 4 1/2 more than his career average. The 28-year-old has a goal and an assist, and is a plus-2 in 20 games this season.
McQuaid hasn’t played more than 32 games in a season since 2011-12.
